NITRO Afterlife
Strictly speaking it’s a freestyle board but it’ll happily float powder laps, rip through the trees and cruise piste leisurely then, if you’re that way inclined, you can spend your afternoon lapping the park, hitting every rail and stomping every kicker. The reality is the Afterlife is a solid all-mountain board with freestyle leanings but it’s certainly not restricted to jibbing and hucking.
Sitting comfortably between super-soft and mid-flex, it’s best suited to intermediates and above who’re looking for a competent all-mountain snowboard which can handle park hits as well, if not better, than some of its contemporaries. The mellow flex makes it particularly good at absorbing uneven snowpack, ruts and bumps.
Built around Nitro’s Power II core, tip-to-tail poplar wood laminates with additional beech wood stringers, that provide lightweight strength and the perfect blend of flex, response and feel. This keeps the board obedient on uneven or unpredictable snowpack, yet playful and fun when you’re laying down a massive powder slash.
The core also benefits from Nitro’s Whiplash torsional profiling, reduced core thickness between the binding inserts with overbuilt coring in the nose and tail creates maximum ollie power, while maintaining a perfect press flex and loose skate feel through the centre.
Nitro know how much of a beating park boards have to take, so they reinforced the edges of the Afterlife with RailKiller Edges; twice as thick and twice as strong as standard edges, drastically reducing the change of dings and pull-outs.
The Afterlife utilises Bi-Lite fibreglass laminates in its topsheet; engineered for unrivalled strength, powerful style and refined board-feel. The result is a board that feels forgiving without compromising on heavy duty performance.
The Premium Extruded FH base offers bomb-proof durability, speed and low maintenance. The super-tough, base is fully extruded providing durable, impact resistant performance which lasts significantly longer between services than sintered bases. This means you can throw more abuse its way without having to worry about repairing or maintaining the base regularly.
The Afterlife uses Nitro’s Dual Degressive sidecut taper. This sidecut blends a smaller radius in the centre of the board with two larger ones in the tip and tail. This makes the board loose, playful and forgiving.
The Urban flex pattern is specifically tuned for super-soft performance. These ultra-flexible boards can be tweaked any way you like, from rails to butter tricks, and they won’t pop out from beneath you.
Topped off with Nitro’s Cam-Out Camber, a traditional cambered profile with early and smooth graduated transitions into the tip and tail. The result is a fun and responsive board that turns on the spot whilst retaining enough forgiveness to absorb rail hits and kicker landings.
