Lange RS 130
The RS 130 remains the category benchmark for true alpine boots, and the rest of the field continues to follow its lead on construction, stance and features. Testers once again penned endless superlatives about its balance, agility and power on snow. But this year they also thought to remind us that the boot is not everyman's. It is tight, they said. Maybe slightly tighter than last year's version via a subtle liner change. Not that they didn’t like the snug liner fit, but they noted that only slender feet will avoid some seat time with a bootfitter here. That said, the mono-injected polyether shell happily accepts a grind and a punch. Testers agree that the RS 130's solid sole construction and rigid boot board give it a front-side flavor, but cite its balance and responsiveness as a ticket to off-piste adventure for any good skier. Tester comments: "Provides a total connection. Made my skis feel shorter, more agile." "An immediate 'at home' feeling—solid and smooth."
